Humility  vs. Pride

Discussed by City Budget Office, June 30, 2003

Acknowledging that achievement results from the investment of others in my life.

Rewards of Humility

Wisdom

Deeper levels of wisdom are gained when a person realizes that many people were involved in his or her accomplishments.

Honor

It is a joy to honor someone who is not always clamoring for the spotlight but instead shares the credit with others. Authorities love to exalt a humble person.

Humility in the home includes:

*Praising each other for advice that enabled good decisions and the help that made achievements possible

*Showing gratefulness to the people who have invested time and effort to make one successful

*Sons and daughters recognizing the sacrifices of money, time and energy their parents have made to help them succeed.

The Turkey Vulture

The turkey vulture is not particularly attractive, intelligent, or agile. Yet this bird has saved more lives than perhaps any other creature. By devouring the remains of the dead, the turkey vulture stops the spread of disease and protects the lives of others.
