Initiative vs. Idleness

Discussed by SP Secretary Office, August 25, 2003

Recognizing and doing what needs to be done before I am ask to do it.

Rewards of Initiative

Wealth

Faithfulness to daily plan and execute work is like putting a penny in a piggy bank everyday.  Little by little the pennies multiply, and one day they can make one rich.

Children’s inheritance

Parents who take the initiative to plan and prepare for their children will have an inheritance to give them.

Initiative in the home includes:

*Accepting the challenge of being an example for other families and looking for ways to encourage them by sharing about lessons learned.

*Parents visualizing achievement for each of their children and planning ahead for training opportunities that would help them reach their goals.

*Seeing and doing chores around the house that need to be completed.

The Swans

The whistling swan is able to fly at speeds of up to 100 miles per hour and an altitude of 6,000 feet. A swan flying by itself can travel only 30 percent of the distance that can be covered by a flock of 25 traveling in V-formation.

I will...

* I will do what is right before being told.

* I will not put off until tomorrow the things I can do today.

* I will contribute to the success of the whole team.

* I will be part of the solution rather than the problem.

* I will look for ways to help others.
