“Ibayaw”, a Bisaya term which means to elevate, is a powerful and inspiring word that perfectly encapsulates the mission of the Ibayaw Youth Collective (IYC). This organization, founded in 2021, is comprised of intergenerational advocates who believe that the youth are the primary drivers of sustainable development and change in the world. Their goal is to elevate or Ibayaw the community and the different sectors for an inclusive society. Even at the height of the pandemic, the IYC’s growth has been incredible. From just 10 members to a hundred volunteers and partners, from 1 project to over 50 initiatives and community engagements, the organization has been recognized as one of the 20 most accomplished organizations all around the Philippines. This growth is a testament to the power of community and the desire for change.
IYCs commitments does not just focus on individual or organizational success but rather on elevating the entire community. The IYC’s success is due to the continued support of the whole Bayawan community to its endeavors. This is a testament to the fact that it takes a village to raise a child, and a whole community to make better lives. The IYC’s commitment to an inclusive society is reflected in their work. They have launched initiatives that address critical issues such as education, health, gender equality, and environmental sustainability. These initiatives have impacted thousands of individuals in their community, making a real difference in people’s lives.
The commitment to elevate the community and forge an inclusive society has become a driving force behind the IYC’s mission and growth. It is a reminder that change and progress are not only possible but achievable when individuals and organizations come together for a common goal. The IYC’s journey is proof that with determination, collaboration, and a commitment to community, we can all elevate our society to new heights.
